This particular piece was drawn for a close friend whose parents were celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary. Round of applause, please.

The work was predominantly drawn with a General’s 9XXB Pencil in order to achieve the ultra-rich black tones that the original photo had. Contrasting highlights were drawn in carbon and charcoal respectively.

"GRANDDAD"

"Granddad", sitting in his favourite chair wearing his comfiest cardigan, is a nostalgic arrangement most of us may be all too familiar with, evoking the simplest of childhood memories. Whilst the subject of this particular piece - the father of a friend of a friend - has no relation to me, I believe the composition itself transcends personal sentiment.

Like a lot of my work, "Granddad" was mostly drawn in General's 9XXB pencil, with further detail added in both carbon and charcoal.
